| Greater Progressive welcomed Delania Oman to the fold as secretary in July of 2007. She was accepted into the church, assuming the responsibilities, of being the first face seen as you are welcomed to Greater Progressive Baptist Church. Delania’s etiquette and smile has been a great asset, as well as the attention to the details of keeping the flow of the church continuously moving on a daily basis.
On a personal level, Delania has held a union with Michael Oman for 20 years this coming December 2009, and out of the union they have one son, Ethan. Delania relationship with Christ is internal as well as external as she is a long time member of Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, and Holy Cross Lutheran Church which she shares her membership with her family. Delania finds that when she is not caring for her family and churches, she takes time to enjoy physical fitness, the adventure of traveling, education of broadening the mind with reading, and having a bit of fun being a soccer and basketball mom.
For over 10 years she has held a special place in her heart as a member of the oldest women’s organization in the country. The Federation of Colored Women’s Clubs, INC is an organization of over 105 years. Delania began as a local chapter member with the Jr. Lillian Jones Brown Culture Club, moving to hold positions as Program Coordinator, and acting Secretary. Moving within the ranks of the organization, she currently holds the position on a state level as Secretary of the State Executive Board, and North Star District President.
Delania continues to “Lift as she climbs,” in all that she does. We at Greater Progressive appreciate all that she does.
