Ministries

Announcements Ministry
The purpose of the Announcements Ministry is to bring forth the activities in the life of the church and inform the church congregation and visiting friends of future activities and events. The Announcements Ministry meets on the 2nd Saturday at 12:00 noon.
 

Benevolence Ministry
We believe the church has a spiritual obligation to minister to the whole person including material needs. We remain committed to assisting the less fortunate with basic necessities such as food, clothing, shelter and utility costs to the best of our ability. The Benevolence Ministry consists of two components: rent and utility assistance and the Community Harvest Food Bank.
Absent extraordinary circumstances, benevolence grants will be made for the purposes of providing services or other needs essential to a basic quality of life. Examples include but are not limited to rent, electric, gas, and water. The Benevolence Ministry accepts, reviews and approves applications on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 10:00 am.

 
Food Bank
The purpose of the Food Bank is to provide food vouchers for those demonstrating the need. Applications for food vouchers can be made on the 2nd Friday of the month at 10:00 am.
 
Christian Women’s Fellowship Ministry
The purpose of the Christian Women’s Fellowship (CWF) is to plan and implement programs that minister to the unique needs of women in our church and community. All activities are to strengthen and expand the Kingdom of God by promoting spiritual growth and maturity, personal development and corporate responsibility. CWF meets on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
 
Condolence Ministry
The purpose of the Condolence Ministry is to aid in the spiritual well being of church members and the community through prayer and expression of sympathy during the time of bereavement. Condolence Clerk gives acknowledgement of church condolence letters during the home-going service; and, sends sympathy cards and a plant or blanket to the family of deceased. The clerk also remembers the sick and shut in by sending cards of encouragement.

Beautification Ministry
The purpose of the Beautification Ministry is to provide decorations and flower arrangements that will enhance the sanctuary for congregational worship and special services or events.
 
Divine Glories Ministry
The purpose of the Divine Glories Ministry is to promote love and compassion to seniors in the church and community; to strengthen each other spiritually; to offer assistance to other seniors with practical needs; and, to share the wisdom that God has invested in them through their many years of service. Divine Glories meet on the Saturday before the 1st Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
 
Divine Judah Ministry
“Let them praise His name in dance;…” Psalm 149:3
The purpose of the Divine Judah Ministry is to worship and bless the Lord through dance; to minister unto God, praise, and worship Him with our whole hearts. Divine Judah meets the 1st and 3rd Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m.
 
Greeters Ministry
The purpose of the Greeters Ministry is to give guests and members a warm and welcome feeling; to let newcomers feel as if they are a part of the Church (not simply visitors for a day); and to help those that enter to get in touch with the love of God and the spirituality of the church. The Greeters Ministry meets on the 2nd Saturday at 12:00 noon.
 
Health & Wellness Ministry
The purpose of the Health Ministry is to provide on-going health care education; and, assist individuals, the congregation and the community to achieve health wholeness by attending to the physical, psychosocial and spiritual dimensions of each person.
 
Kitchen Ministry
The purpose of the Kitchen Ministry is to prepare and serve meals for the church as needed for special occasions.
 
Newsletter (The Progressive Press) Ministry
The purpose of the Media Ministry is to provide quality written and electronic publications for distribution within GPBC and the community via the “Voice” newsletter, and to inform the news media of the events of GPBC.
 

Music Ministry
The purpose of the Music Ministry is to create and enhance an atmosphere in which the hearts and minds of individuals will be prepared to receive the Word. The Music Ministry components are:

Nurses Ministry
The purpose of the Nurses Ministry is to minister to the spiritual and physical needs of the church and the community. To serve God and others whether there’s an illness or lending a helping hand. To show compassion towards others and to be courteous and reliable. The nurses meet on the 2nd Saturday at 9:00 a.m.
 
Evangelism Outreach Ministry
The purpose of the Outreach Ministry is to seek and to save those who are lost. Our goal is to reach out to them in unconditional love that they might know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We will fulfill our goal through prayer, scriptures, the word of our testimony, and fellowship with the Body of Christ. We shall unite with other faith based agencies and churches in a collective effort to reach the community for the Kingdom.
 
Singles Ministry
The purpose of the Singles Ministry is for single and single again (divorced or widowed) adults of all ages who wish to enhance their spiritual growth and awareness, through biblical study and fellowship with other single Christians. The Singles Ministry meets on the 2nd Saturday at 5:00 p.m.
 
Sound Ministry
The purpose of the Sound Ministry is to amplify sound and distribute an intelligibility level to the congregation while instilling confidence and maintaining consistency.
 
Transportation Ministry
The purpose of the Transportation Ministry is to provide transportation for individuals who would not be able to attend Church Services and activities due to lack of transportation. To schedule pickup, contact church office 744-6235 by 12:00 noon on Tuesday for mid-week service; or by 6:00 p.m. on Friday for Sunday services.
 
Ushers Ministry
The purpose of the Ushers Ministry is to welcome members and guest to the Church; escort those who enter to a seat; direct the flow of givers during the offering; and, do whatever tasks are necessary to see that the Church Services flow in an orderly and productive manner with few distractions. The Ushers meet on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays at 4:00 p.m.
 
Wedding Ministry
The purpose of the Wedding Ministry to assist the wedding couple in understanding and following the church’s wedding guidelines, as well as assist the Senior Pastor in directing the rehearsal and the wedding ceremony. The Wedding Coordinator is not a wedding director and is not expected to plan the details of the wedding. The Pastor with counsel with the couple prior to the wedding date. Information, application and fee schedule are available upon request by contacting the church office.
