About Our Pastor

Anthony R. Pettus Sr. is known as a man that is powerful and prolific in preaching and teaching the Word of God. His mission is to impact his community, state, nation and world.  He was the Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church for twelve years.  Over those twelve years at Macedonia, he developed several ministries and has traveled all across the United States, preaching, teaching, and conducting various seminars.  He is now the proud Pastor of Greater Progressive Baptist Church where he has served for 4 years. His God-given direction is to take ministry to another level.
This visionary was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to Lestene W. Pettus.  He is married to Quila R. Pettus and they have seven children – Anthony Jr. (TJ), Sharrece, Terrell, Quila, Timothy, Qualen, and Aniah.  Anthony R. Pettus, Sr. received his Master of Theological Studies at Faith Evangelical Seminary in Tacoma, Washington, where he graduated in October 2004.
Since joining Greater Progressive in 2004, Pastor Pettus has birthed several unique ideas and ministries: Family & Friends Week, Men of Honor Men’s Bible Study, Eden Green Evangelism Outreach and 20/20 Vision, to name a few.  For the past 7 years, Pastor Pettus has served as Regional Coordinator and instructor for the WHW Expository Preaching and Teaching Conference in Los Angeles.  In addition, Pastor Pettus has been a facilitator for the past 5 years at the Frank Ray Expository Preaching & Church Growth Conference in Memphis, TN.  In September 2006, Pastor Pettus was named an Overseer in the Kingdom Builder’s Fellowship, under the leadership of Bishop James W. E. Dixon. 

 
Lady Quila R. Pettus
Lady Quila R. Pettus is the First Lady of Greater Progressive Baptist Church, where Rev. Anthony R. Pettus is the Senior Pastor.  Quila is a native of South Bend, Indiana.  Her parents are Florence Starling and Thomas Adams.  She is married to pastor Anthony R Pettus Sr.  They have seven children; Tj, Sharrece, Terrell, Quila, Timothy, Qualen, and Aniah.  She grew up in Macedonia M. B. Church and she has attended the National Baptist Convention as a youth and adult, taking classes to enhance her walk and work for the Lord.  She has been a student of the WHW ministries laymen’s division for four years taking courses in context and culture, word studies, and syntax to enhance her biblical study skills.  Quila attends a first lady conference in Dallas, Texas where she learns from experienced veterans the role and responsibilities of a first lady.  Quila holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, along with a Religious Studies and Human Services Certificate.  Working along side of her husband in ministry she has discovered her passion is to help young girls in their development into womanhood, she is implementing a ministry at Greater Progressive Baptist Church that will equip them with the spiritual, personal and social development that they need in order to restore the honor to womanhood for their generation.  Quila’s pleasant personality and people skills have made her a wonderful person to be around and a joy to those she come in contact with, she is a great asset for the kingdom of God.
